Tips and Tricks for Voice Overs
I have NOT made a super quality voice over with sims, but I can tell you what I've learned.
First off-- Finding your voices on youtube can be very long process and very annoying.
If you are just starting out (presuming you are since you are reading this TUTORIAL), you may need to promote your auditions open video, get the word out there, and also search for voice actors yourself and ask if they would like to audition!
Now what I came to learn is that people are not consistent. You may get all the parts you need, but then later you will lose some actors/actresses because you can't get a hold of them; People can be finicky and unreliable(keep that in mind!).
So if you do decide to do a voice over and you want one consistent voice throughout your entire series, be sure to get all your scripts done from the very start. I know, you will be impatient and just want to put it out there, but in overall results, you will have one voice for every character, not multiples because people drop out.
The other thing on finding voices is, be sure to have similar sounding mics (not required, but is always nice to the ear and quality of your overall video). and make sure the sound levels are equal. it's just as annoying to have one really soft recording and one really loud one. You may think you can just raise and lower the recordings if needed, but it does effect the quality of the sound(kinda like when you try to enlarge a small photo and it gets pixely); you want to do as little adjusting as possible, so be sure the sounds are pretty equal in volume. Just make them redo it until its just right. there are ways to adjust mic recording volume, they probably just don't know it yet.)
But Final tip, a voiceover is SO much harder and more work then a normal subtitle series. If HARD work isn't your thing, just do a subtitle. It's harder in editing AND in the filming process.
There is so much to describe into this, so if you have any questions on this, feel free to ask; just go to the "contact" section of this site.
